Every app you approve shows up as Outlet · the app's name. Its key and its spending live there.
How do I connect to AI?
Inside an app that uses Outlet. Some apps ask you to paste your own API key. Others show the Connect your AI button, which plugs your account in and gives the app its own capped App key.
What is Outlet?
The plug between your AI account and the apps you use. Every app gets its own capped key. You keep control. Free for users, forever.
Is Outlet safe?
Outlet never sees your prompts or answers. The app talks to your provider directly. Your admin key is stored encrypted, never shown, never given to apps.
What is an App key?
A key made for one app, inside your account, with a cap. Steal it and the cap holds. Revoke it and it is gone.
What is the cap?
The most an app can spend on your account in a month. The app proposes it, you approve it. Outlet reads the provider’s spend reports and revokes the app at the cap. Reports can run late.
How do I stop an app?
Sign in to Outlet and revoke it. The app loses its key. Your account stays connected.
How do I disconnect Outlet completely?
Disconnect the account in Outlet. Every app on it is revoked and the admin key is deleted. Deleting the admin key in your provider's website does the same.
Why does Outlet ask for an admin key?
It is the one key that can make other keys. Outlet uses it to make one capped key per app. Apps never see it. Never paste it into any app.
How is the admin key kept safe?
- Stored
- Encrypted (AES-256-GCM) in the vault. Unlocked only for the moment Outlet does a job for you.
- Shown
- Never. Not on a screen, not in a log, not to an app.
- Used for
- Four jobs. Make a capped App key for an app you approve. Read spend totals to hold the cap. Apply the limits you chose. Revoke keys when you say so or a cap is hit.
- Guarded
- Your password stays with the sign-in provider. The human check runs before every approval. A script cannot approve in your name.
- Logged
- Every sensitive action, with the time. Never the key.
- Deleted
- When you disconnect the account. Deleting the key at your provider works too.
Can I use my ChatGPT or Claude plan?
Not yet. Subscriptions aren’t keys yet. Their door, not ours. Outlet connects Anthropic and OpenAI API accounts today. Those have their own balance, separate from a plan.
